Chinese elm
Ulmus parvifolia

Catalogue No. 1932-0052*A
Height: 74 feet
Spread: 80 feet
DBH: 58.6 inches

Native to eastern Asia. Pennsylvania State Champion

This huge tree, growing next to the Swan Pond, is a gnarled old specimen of an increasingly familiar tree. Its flaky bark, good fall color, and fine-textured foliage make this an excellent addition to any landscape. This elm, a very resilient tree, is resistant to Dutch elm disease and is finding wider use as an urban street tree and replacement for the American elm.
