Horticultural variety, native to eastern North America. A weeping form of our native hemlock and state tree. This large specimen was planted as part of the original Japanese-inspired design for the Swan Pond. Its interesting habit make it an attraction throughout the year and visitors can look up into its umbrella-like crown.
The lower portion of the Rose Garden is closed due to renovations to the turf. The top gate is open to allow for visual access, just not foot traffic. We hope to reopen quickly.
