Native to central China. This grove of dawn redwood trees has often been described as being like a Gothic Cathedral. The trees, with their beautiful straight trunks, are planted along our East Brook, and are a pilgrimage for many of our visitors, particularly when they are showing their fantastic deep orange-brown fall color. The dawn redwood was thought to be extinct by Western botanists until it was rediscovered in the 1940's. Loving moisture, and very fast-growing, our grove dates from the early 1950's.
