Engler beech
Fagus engleriana
56-239-A
Height: 60 feet (1993)
Spread: 60 feet
DBH: largest stem is 1.6 feet

Native to Central China. Pennsylvania State Champion. This spectacular specimen with its wide-spreading branch structure is one of the rarest trees in our collection. Grown in only a few arboreta in North America, it is a Chinese relative of the more common American and European beeches. Its lustrous summer foliage, wonderful warm russet fall color and long branches make it a tree for all seasons.
