Comptonia Plaque

Comptonia Plaque

This plaque can be hung indoors on your fireplace, sunroom, or foyer wall. This foliage motif is sweet fern (Comptonia aspleniifolia), named for the 17th century British Bishop of Compton who sponsored botanical voyages to the New World. Chances are John Morris, who visited Compton's English estate of American plants, took the name for his "Compton" estate, which later became the Morris Arboretum and Gardens.
