This huge tree, growing next to the Swan Pond, is an gnarled old specimen of an increasingly familiar tree. Its flaky bark, good fall color, and fine-textured foliage make this an excellent addition to any landscape. This elm is a very resilient tree, with resistance to Dutch elm disease that is finding wider use as an urban street tree and replacement for the American elm. |
