Native to northern China and Korea. One of the best firs for our hot and humid summers, the needle fir is native to China and Korea. This tree is the largest in the Delaware Valley and was originally planted by the Morrisses. The Arboretum has recently been approved to hold a national collection of firs, and this tree is one of our many historic specimens. Younger examples of the needle fir, growing near the Education Center are the result of plant exploration trips to Korea in the 1980's.
