Roses & Clematis

Roses, Roses, Roses. They continue to get easier to grow as hybridizers introduce more hardy and disease resistant cultivars. The best roses for flower production, beauty and ease of maintenance in
the Delaware Valley continue to be the Knock Out® series of roses. Many other varieties claim to be like Knock Out® but none can compare to its beauty and carefree habit.

This year we are carrying the much anticipated and newly introduced Rainbow Knock Out® an All America Rose Selection Winner for 2007. Covered with coral pink blooms with a rich yellow base, Rainbow Knock Out is a more compact grower than Knock Out, but just as hardy. We trialed Rainbow Knock Out last year in the Morris Arboretum Rose Garden and it performed beautifully all summer.

Knock Out® – single cherry red flowers. A standard and one of the most reliable roses!

Double Knock Out® – cherry red double flowers. This double flowered version of Knockout has somewhat smaller flowers and a more compact growth habit making it perfect for tight spots or containers.

Blushing Knock Out® – shell pink blooms. This rose has all the great disease resistance of Knock Out only it blooms a beautiful delicate pink that fades to white.

Pink Knock Out® – clear pink flowers. Co-discovered by the Morris Arboretum and the Conard-Pyle Company. This rose thrives in humid climates with little maintenance. A great color and great addition to any garden!

In addition to the Knock Out® series of roses, we will also have an array of rose cultivars from David Austin shrub roses to climbing roses to meet all your rose growing needs.

Clematis are the perfect addition to any garden. They are a perennial vine that returns every year to flower and add beauty to the landscape. We have one of the widest selections of clematis varieties in the area with over thirty-five different cultivars being offered for sale this year.

We sell two year old vines for easy establishment in the garden and so that we can offer the largest variety of cultivars at the most reasonable prices. You don’t have to buy just one! Here are a few of the many clematis varieties available at the sale this year.

Franziska Marie™ – Very free flowering with double blue-purple flowers. This clematis outperforms any other double clematis currently available because it flowers on old and new growth. It is ideal for growing in a container or anywhere its easy blooming habit can be admired.

‘Prince Charles’ – A compact plant with profuse mauve-blue flowers. The flowers of Prince Charles are semi-nodding with slightly twisted petals giving this clematis a delicate look that dances in the slightest breeze.

Clematis henryi – The flowers of this luminescent clematis will light up the dullest corner of your garden. Very large pure white flowers cover this well-known clematis and are a perfect excuse to have a cocktail party at dusk in early June when it first bursts into flower.
