Acer palmatum ‘Wolff’
Common Name: Emperor I® Japanese Maple
Size/Position: 20 to 25 feet, sun to part shade
Description: Dark red leaves, slightly darker than Bloodgood. Holds deep red color well in sun or shade. Leaves are deep purple red, turning to deep crimson in fall. Upright wide-crowned tree. Vigorous growth. Benefits from frequent deep watering in summer.

Callicarpa dichotoma ‘Early Amethyst’
Common Name: Early Amethyst Purple Beautyberry
Size/Position: 3 to 4 feet, sun to part shade
Description: Produces spectacular lavender berries before any other beautyberry in the fall. Forms a small shrub with slender arching branches. Few fruiting shrubs can compete with the beautyberries in the autumn.

Cornus sericea ‘Baileyi’
Common Name:
Bailey’s Redtwig Dogwood
Size/Position: 6 to 10 feet, sun to part shade
Description: A rapid-growing, multi-stemmed shrub that lacks the stoloniferous, spreading habit of the species. Bright red winter stems which are particularly showy against a snowy backdrop. Tiny white flower clusters give way to porcelain blue fruits--a bird favorite. Great for use as specimen or hedge in moist soils or along stream and pond edges.

Fothergilla major ‘Blue Shadow’
Common Name: Blue Shadow Large Fothergilla
Size/Position: 4 to 6 feet, part shade to shade
Description: A selection from Mount Airy with terrific steel blue foliage. Leaves develop superb, consistent yellow-orange-red fall color. Abundant flowers. Vigorous constitution. Thrives in moist, rich, well-drained, acid soils and makes a great companion for rhododendrons.

Fothergilla major ‘Mount Airy’
Common Name: Mount Airy Large Fothergilla
Size/Position: 4 to 6 feet, sun to part shade
Description: Dark green foliage develops superb, consistent yellow-orange-red fall color. Abundant flowers. Vigorous constitution. Thrives in moist, rich, well-drained, acid soils and makes a great companion for rhododendrons.

Hamamelis xintermedia ‘Orange Peel’
Common Name: Orange Peel Witchhazel
Size/Position: 5 to 6 feet, sun to part shade
Description: Deep orange flowers resemble thin shreds of orange rind. Blooms along naked stems in January and February. Striking when in flower. Leaves color nicely in autumn changing from yellow, through orange to red. An excellent plant for the shrub border. Shown to best effect where they catch the low morning or evening sun.

Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Big Daddy’
Common Name: Big Daddy Hydrangea
Size/Position: 4 to 6 feet, sun to part shade
Description: A large flowering “mop head” type that blooms on both old and new wood for repeat blooms all season long. This unusually hardy shrub produces huge flower heads up to 12-14 inches wide. Flower color varies from pink in alkaline (limey) soils to blue in acidic soils. Practically trouble free once established.

Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Nikko Blue’
Common Name: Nikko Blue Hydrangea
Size/Position: 4 to 6 feet, sun to part shade
Description: Desired for the splendid, abundant,
showy blue, globe-shaped flower clusters. Handsome foliage on mounded form. Best grown in moist, rich, well-drained soil in part shade. Flower color varies from pink in alkaline (limey) soils to blue in acidic soils. Superb shrub for accent, specimen or border use.

Ilex crenata ‘Drops of Gold’
Common Name: Drops of Gold Japanese Holly
Size/Position: 3 to 4 feet, sun to part shade
Description: While most gold leafed hollies look sick at best, this unique new holly is the exception. The spring flush is a brilliant yellow which slowly changes into glossy dark green leaves splashed with bright golden spots. Coloration is best in full sun. Easy to grow in all but wet soils.

Ilex ‘Mesog’
Common Name: China Girl® Holly
Size/Position: 5 to 10 feet, sun to part shade
Description: A ruggedly hardy, lustrous green plant which makes a fast growing but compact specimen. Perhaps the best berry set on any holly with a terrific coverage of large red fruit in the fall. Great heat and cold tolerance.

Lagerstroemia indica ‘Hopi’
Common Name: Hopi Crapemyrtle
Size/Position: 6 to 10 feet, sun to part shade
Description: A spreading, semi-dwarf form with pink flowers. The most hardy of the semidwarf forms, having withstood -24F. Leaves are dark green in summer turning orange-red in autumn. Mildew resistant. Grows in all soils except wet.

Magnolia virginiana ‘Jim Wilson’
Common Name: Moonglow® Sweetbay Magnolia
Size/Position: 10 to 20 feet, sun to part shade
Description: This semi-evergreen tree differs from most other magnolias in that this plant does well in wet or swampy soils, also tolerates shade. Late summer flowers have a delicious fragrance that carries for a long way.

Physocarpus opulifolius ‘Mindia’
Common Name: Coppertina™ Ninebark
Size/Position: 8 to 10 feet, sun
Description: Leaves flush an attractive copper in spring and transform to a rich red in summer. Compact but fast growth. The unique copper-red foliage and superior branching make it a wonderful landscape plant. Tolerant of most soil conditions. To achieve the best color, plant in full sun.

Pieris japonica ‘Purity’
Common Name: Purity Japanese Pieris
Size/Position: 5 to 8 feet, part shade to shade
Description: One of the latest cultivars to bloom.‘Purity’ has unusually bright white flowers setagainst radiant light green foliage. Thrives in a moist, well-drained, rich, acid soil.

Rhus copallina var. latifolia ‘Morton’
Common Name: Prairie Flame™ Shining Sumac
Size/Position: 7 to 10 feet, sun to part shade
Description: A deciduous multi-stemmed shrub with a refined, compact habit making it much smaller than the species. Extremely glossy, attractive foliage, creamy-white blooms in late July and striking deep red fall color. This compact sumac can be grown in a wide variety of soils and landscape conditions. It is very drought tolerant and grows best in full sun.

Spiraea japonica ‘Shibori
Common Name: Shibori Japanese Spirea
Size/Position: 3 to 4 feet, sun to part shade
Description: Slow growing shrub ideal for the front of the border or as a foundation planting. Distinguished by an attractive, well-branched, upright habit. Early summer flowers range in color from mixed pink to white, in flat clusters. Easy to grow in all but wet soils.

Syringa ‘Bailbelle’
Common Name: Tinkerbelle™ Lilac
Size/Position: 5 to 6 feet, sun to part shade
Description: A beautiful dwarf lilac that has wine colored buds that open to a bright deep pink. A strong bloomer with a nice spicy fragrance. A great addition to any landscape. Resists mildew. Great for foundation planting.

Thuja ‘Steeplechase’
Common Name: Steeplechase Arborvitae
Size/Position: 20 to 30 feet, sun to part shade
Description: A selection from the popular Green Giant, with even more dense foliage and a slightly slower growth rate. Makes a strict upright pyramidal growth habit. This form is also deer resistant and makes a great evergreen hedge or accent plant. Grows well in all soils except wet. Heat and cold hardy.

Weigela florida ‘Courtalor’
Common Name: Carnaval Weigela
Size/Position: 4 to 5 feet, sun to part shade
Description: Luscious red, white and pink azalea like blooms clothe this weigela from early spring until frost. Deep green leathery leaves cover this improved plant. This easy to grow plant is ideal for the shrub border or as a foundation planting.
