This outdoor gallery was named for local sculptor and Arboretum benefactor Madeleine K. Butcher. Inaugurated in 1986, the pieces in the permanent collection (American Bull, St. Francis, and Inside Out) are supplemented by exhibitions that change periodically to feature the work of various sculptors.

The current exhibition is entitled meta Metasequoia. The structure is the creation of artists John McQueen and Margo Mensing. It was designed by J. Shermeta of KSS Architects.
