Plant Reproduction - Seed Formation


Grades - 5th - 6th
Tour length - 1.5 hours
Curriculum components - PDE: 3.2, 3.3, 4.3, 4.6

An up-close exploration of the inner workings of a flower and the magical creation process of seeds

Classroom Activities!

 

Students will:

  • Analyze the structure of a flower and the purpose of its parts
  • Work in teams and use hand lenses to observe and chart flower characteristics
  • Be detectives in order to predict the pollination method of a plant based on floral characteristics
  • Name the benefits of pollination and fertilization
  • Describe the process of seed formation


Seed dispersal in the Arboretum is best displayed from spring into the summer
