Understanding Wetlands


Grades - 4th - 7th
Tour length - 1.5 hour
Curriculum components-PDE: 4.1, 4.9, 6.3, 8.2

Discover why wetlands are so vital to nature by investigating water, soil, and plant/animal components.

 

Students will:

  • Observe and record the different plants and animals that thrive in a wetland
  • Learn the functions that wetlands serve and why wetlands are so important to nature
  • Explain the environmental and economic consequences that arise with the loss of wetlands
  • Brainstorm ways that we can help to safeguard wetlands for the future
