Major Trees

Chinese elm
Ulmus parvifolia

32-0052-A
Height: 74
Spread: 80
DBH: 58.6

Native to eastern Asia.
Pennsylvania State Champion

This huge tree, growing next to the Swan Pond, is an gnarled old specimen of an increasingly familiar tree. Its flaky bark, good fall color, and fine-textured foliage make this an excellent addition to any landscape. This elm is a very resilient tree, with resistance to Dutch elm disease that is finding wider use as an urban street tree and replacement for the American elm.
