Major Trees

London planetree
Platanus x acerifolia

48-8600-A
Height:
Spread:
DBH: 47.25

Horticultural hybrid. One of the most common and durable street trees, the London planetree has been cultivated for several hundred years. Its striking white bark makes it easily recognizable and this is a common street tree in the older neighborhoods of Philadelphia. Few plants achieve the size and stature of this great specimen, which towers over our administration building, Gates Hall.
