Major Trees

White oak
Quercus alba

54-0520-A
Height:
Spread: 39 feet
DBH: 2.2 feet

Native to eastern North America. This stately tree greets visitors as the round the turn on the entrance drive. One of our native Pennsylvanian trees, the white oak has been described as "one of the noblest of the oaks". Although this tree is off the beaten path, the view from underneath its branches is one of the best in the Arboretum, particularly when the daffodils and magnolias are in bloom.
