In order to simplify this listing, the plants used in the wettest locations are noted under a special heading while all other plants are categorized by habit.  Species are listed only once.  The reader should note that most of the plants on this list have variable soil moisture tolerances and may adapt to a variety of conditions.  Plantings were done using a combination of seed, plugs and mature plants.  All species are native to southeastern Pennsylvania.  Rare or endangered species were intentionally excluded.  In some instances, cultivated varieties of native species were used for their highly ornamental characteristics, although it is important to note that such cultivars may not be appropriate in all types of restoration projects.  The use of native species is strongly recommended in riparian and floodplain restorations, as these environments provide highly effective means of seed distribution.
