the volunteer scrap book

Over 100 people contributed more than 1,500 hours of hard work to complete the restoration project during August and September of 1998.  Arboretum staff, horticulture volunteers and members of the Arboretum made up the bulk of the work force.  Also present were staff from the Philadelphia Water Department, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region III, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), the Patrick Center of the Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences, the Friends of the Wissahickon, Fairmount Park Commission, and the Schuylkill Riverkeeper.

Luckily there were some thoughtful people there who took photographs to document the effort.  This scrap book is a tribute to the efforts of all of the volunteers, Arboretum staff, and partner organizations who helped in the planning, design and installation of the project.

To everyone who stitched and sewed...

...hammered, twisted, tied...

...and planted, THANKS!
