The Morris
Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania is the official
Arboretum of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The
four main activities of the Morris Arboretum are education,
research, outreach, and horticultural display. Widely
acknowledged as a national leader in tree care and land
management, the Arboretum provides research and outreach
services to state and local agencies, community institutions,
and to citizens of Pennsylvania and beyond.
Trees are
subtle and complex organisms, and although they can be beautiful
and life-enhancing for people, they can also be dangerous
if not cared for properly. Misconceptions about tree
care are common in the United States, and as a result, street
and shade trees are often improperly planted and maintained.
Improper tree care practices shorten the life of the tree
and can lead to potential hazards for people; therefore,
it is important that tree care be left to qualified experts.
The Morris Arboretum’s Outreach Arborist Consultants
are nationally and regionally recognized experts in tree
care. We are thoroughly educated in modern tree biology,
and stay on the cutting edge of tree care theory and technology
to give our clients the best possible service. Our
clients include landscape
architecture firms, educational institutions, businesses,
professional organizations, and federal, state, and local
governments.
