Computer Fixer on Campus
Computer service and repair is handled through our vendor-partner, Computer Fixer on Campus, Inc. They are authorized to diagnose and repair equipment from several manufacturers, including Apple, Dell, and Hewlett-Packard.

The Computer Connection's delivery service can facilitate your repair by picking up your equipment from your departmental location and returning it to your office upon completion. Please contact our Penn Drop-Off Facility Supervisor for Repairs, Steve Martin, at 215-898-2082 to make arrangements. There is no additional fee for the delivery service.

Payments should be made to Computer Fixer directly. They accept purchase order payments from BEN Financials. Choose the "on campus carry-in" site for the vendor, "Computer Fixer." Major credit cards and ATM cards are also accepted.

Computer Fixer On Campus services and rates
The Computer Fixer On Campus is currently certified for warranty repair on Apple, Dell, IBM, and HP, and will look at machines of any manufacturer which are no longer under warranty.

All carry-in repairs are coordinated through the Computer Connection Service Center In-Take at the Sheraton (898-2082) . We accept individual machines for repair by the Computer Fixer and notify customers when their systems have been repaired. We also schedule all departmental service pick-ups and deliveries.

The Computer Fixer on Campus has a pricing structure that accurately reflects the current computer repair marketplace, while still offering advantageous pricing to the University of Pennsylvania's customers, as follows:


  • There is a $35 non-refundable deposit at time of drop-off - this deposit will be applied to the total cost of repair.
  • There are three tiers of flat rate pricing for basic repair services, and hourly rates for more advanced laser printer repair, software troubleshooting, advanced operating system installs and field server maintenance, as follows:
    • Tier I -- $35 per event (excluding parts):
      • Memory installation
      • Floppy drive installation
      • Battery installation
    • Tier II -- $50 per event (excluding parts):
      • Processor & peripheral installation
      • Mass storage install or repalce (HD/CD)
      • Ink jet printer repair
    • Tier III -- $75 to $100 (excluding parts):
      • Basic software/operating system install -- $75
      • Desktop repair -- $85
      • Laptop repair -- $100
      • Hourly Rates for advanced services:
        • $75/1st hour and $50 each additional hour for software troubleshooting, advanced operating system install and laser printer repair
        • $90/ hour for Windows NT file server maintenance and advanced system setup
      • Additional rates for special services:
        • $40 additional fee for on-site service (on-campus departments)
        • $50 additional fee for priority service (machine guaranteed to be looked at within 24 hours)
