Residential Visitor Access Procedure for Move-Out
Move-Out is a busy time on campus. We experience high foot traffic in our on campus residences including additional visitors, family and friends.
The safety and security of our residents is our utmost priority. The residential access policy for on campus residences is as follows:
- Visitors must be with a resident and show a photo ID and visitor access pass to enter the building.
- ALL visitors MUST have an access pass and photo ID: family, friends, anyone assisting a resident move in.
- The resident is responsible for their visitor(s) and their actions while they are in the residence.
- At NO time should a resident sign in a visitor or someone they do not know.
Access passes will be issued at various residential locations throughout move out. They will be issued in the presence of both the host resident and visitor; the visitor must produce a photo ID to receive the pass, and must also show both the pass and photo ID to enter the building with their host.
Please be patient while we accommodate so many visitors to the College Houses and Sansom Place, while keeping the safety of our residents intact.
Storage
Residents in the College Houses and Sansom Place must remove all belongings from their residence when they move out. Housing Services does not offer storage for residents over the summer, or at any other time of year. We do not recommend or endorse any company advertising moving and storage services. . All arrangements for moving and storage services are strictly between the vendor and the student.
Employees of the Department of Housing and the University of Pennsylvania are not responsible for abandoned or stored property. Belongings left in student rooms/apartments/lockers will be considered abandoned property and discarded.
Using Moving and Storage Companies
If you choose to use a moving company:
- Make sure that you are aware of their policies and practices.
- Check references and insurance.
- Be clear on what services they will provide.
- Dates of pick up and moving MUST be within the official move out dates.
Moving companies should provide all needed moving supplies including carts, dollies, etc.
