Move-out at Penn usually means tons of used furniture and household goods thrown in the trash all over campus and the nearby neighborhoods – a lot of it still in usable condition. Wouldn't it be better for Philadelphia and for the planet if all this useful stuff could make its way to people who could really use it, rather than getting shoveled immediately into landfills?

What is PennMOVES?
The goal of PennMOVES is to help Penn students find a home for items they can’t take with them when they leave campus, and do it in a way that is socially responsible and environmentally aware. We'll be collecting your usable items that you can't take with you when you leave campus in the Spring— clothes, furniture, kitchen gear, non-perishable food items, and the like— selling them in a huge low-cost sale, and distributing the proceeds to organizations who help West Philadelphians and other nearby communities in need.
For the third year, PennMOVES will help support organizations in the West Philadelphia community. We are working in partnership with the United Way to help identify organizations in need.
