Safety & Security

The Departments of Housing and College Houses and Academic Services work closely with the Division of Public Safety to insure the safety and security of residents in the College Houses and Sansom Place. The residential security program is a carefully integrated program comprised of exacting procedures carried out by trained personnel, and monitored by state of the art equipment, vigilant database management and ongoing presentation of educational programs and messages. Card swipe stations, mechanical turnstiles and new optical turnstiles are essential elements of the residential security program.

The residential access database feeding these elements is managed centrally at Public Safety in collaboration with Housing Services. It accommodates low occupancy periods, closed buildings, special populations and changing access times and needs.

Other features of residential perimeter security include strategic installation of video cameras and monitors, electronic door alarms and sensors, lighting, and other security enhancements.
