About the PennCardThe PennCard is the official University of Pennsylvania identification card for students, faculty, staff, and other members of the University community. You can use your PennCard to access a myriad of services at Penn. PennCard Fees PennCard at a Glance
PennCard ID Number: The number on your PennCard consists of three parts: 123456 12345678 00 The PennCard ID number replaces the Social Security Number (SSN) which had been used previously as an identification number. We've made this change for your privacy and security.
University Status: Several types of PennCards are issued by the University. These types correspond to an individual's status such as Student, Faculty, Staff, etc. Contact Information For Lost/Stolen Cards: Lost or stolen cards must be reported immediately to the Penncard Center at 215.417.CARD or to Public Safety at: 573-3333. Upon contact with PennCard or Public Safety, your card will be deactivated. Banking Partners: In addition to many University services, your PennCard can be used as a debit card for banking if you choose to link it with an account from the University of Pennsylvania Student Federal Credit Union or PNC Bank. Magnetic Stripe: The single most important part of the card. It houses the information that enables all financial transactions, access to University buildings, library privileges,and dining services. The PennCard Center is a department under the auspices of the University's Division of Business Services. Consistent with the mission of the overall division, our underlying philosophy is to provide our clients with high quality service in a fiscally responsible manner. The PennCard Center shares Penn's status as a not-for-profit organization and proceeds earned from our sales and supplier partnerships support the costs associated with maintaining the operation of the enterprise. |
