Penn Publication Services manages the art files for the University of Pennsylvania logo. If you have a PennKey ID, you can download logo art files from the link below. A few things you should know:
  • Publication Services manages the primary University logo only. If you need the logo of an individual school or center, including Athletics, you must contact that school or center directly.

  • If you are using the University logo, or are asking any other design firm to use the logo, you are responsible for assuring that the logo is used appropriately. If you have any questions about whether it is appropriate to use the University logo on any materials, you should contact the Office of University Relations http://www.upenn.edu/pennnews/. For general information about logo usage, you can download a PDF of the
    Penn Branding Standards.

  • If you are from an external design firm, you should have your Penn client download the appropriate graphic file for you. If you need assistance, you should have your Penn client contact the Publication Services design director, Monica McVey, giving her permission to release the logo to you. Publication Services will charge your client $25 for each download. If additional rework is required, we will develop a cost estimate based on our regular hourly rate of $100 per hour. Monica McVey can be reached at 215-898-1425 or mcvey@upenn.edu.

  • Art files are available in two file formats: EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) and GIF (Graphic Image File). EPS files are appropriate for high-resolution printing, since they can be resized without losing any detail. You cannot open an EPS file unless you have the appropriate software such as Quark or the Adobe suite of products (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). The file will not launch in Microsoft products. If you are working with an external design firm, that firm will have the appropriate software, so you should forward the file to a designer at that firm.

  • GIF files are appropriate for use on the web or for materials that do not require high-resolution images. The file will open in Microsoft applications such as Word or Power Point. However, they should be used at the size available on the download. Resizing will hinder legibility and obscure the image. If you need additional sizes, contact Monica McVey, 215-898-1425, mcvey@upenn.edu
