Identity
Graphic Identity
Publication Services created graphic identity standards to support a unified, appropriate image for Penn faithful to the University's brand standards developed in 2002. We manage these standards for the Office of University Communications: http://www.upenn.edu/pennnews. All of us within the Penn community have a responsibility to publish materials in print or electronically that faithfully follow these standards.
Penn's graphic identity program consists of two primary graphic elements, the PENNmark and the University shield. These images serve as the official logos for Penn. Consistent application and precise production of our logos reinforce public awareness of the University, its schools, and departments. We encourage the use of the PENNmark and/or University shield on all official Penn communication materials.
In fact, we are the experts in the application of the Penn brand on graphics materials. (For brand application on websites, contact the Office of University Communications:http://www.upenn.edu/pennnews/webservices.php).
Any person, school, center, department, or unit using the Penn logo for any purposes (business cards, stationery, publications, exhibits, signs, merchandise, videos, etc.) must adhere to the guidelines in the Graphic Identity Standards. This includes external firms (graphic designers, printers, etc.) that may be creating materials for a Penn school or center.
The University regulates use of its name, including University of Pennsylvania, Penn, the names of its schools and programs, its shield and related insignia, trademarks and logos ("insignia") to ensure that such use is related to the University's educational, service and research missions and promotes its objectives. Responsibility for overseeing use of the University's names and insignia lies with the Secretary of the University. Please see the University website regarding use of name. http://www.upenn.edu/secretary/nameuse.html#top

Please note: If we have any concerns about the way in which you intend to use the logo, we will forward your request to the Office of the Secretary. This office makes the final decision about the appropriate use of the logo. |
