Free Ad Space In Philadelphia's City Paper's Education Guide
Advertisers, the opportunity to grab free ad space in the Philadelphia City Paper’s third and final Education Guide of 2009 on August 6th is fast approaching. Purchase any ad in the upcoming Education Guide and you will be guaranteed additional space up to half of the ad you purchased for free. So what does this mean in dollar and cents? For example, if you purchase your standard 1/4 Page (4.87” x 5.37”) ad for the set price of $555.00, you will receive an additional 1/8 Page ad free of charge. Please note, to seize this opportunity you must act fast—the space reservation deadline is July 17th and the art deadline follows on July 24th.

Design
The Importance of Good Typography
Good typography is just as important on a Web page as it is in any other medium. The fact that it appears on a computer screen and not on a piece of paper is immaterial; it should still be pleasing to look at and easy to read.
In every situation where type is used in publishing, signage, packaging, television, etc. designers have to adapt their techniques to suit the medium.
A headline style that works just fine in a magazine spread would not necessarily work on a poster and designing for a computer screen has its own set of problems. Add to these the elastic nature of a Web page, which has to work across different computer platforms and screen sizes, and the problems get even worse. It is the designer's job to understand these issues and to address them to maintain some kind of control when everything else is shifting.
