USPS Changes to Letter Size Booklet Self-Mailers
Effective September 8, 2009 there will be changes to specifications for mailing USPS booklets. USPS defines a booklet as multiple sheets of paper bound together.
Notable changes --
- Maximum size will be 6"h x 10.5"w (currently 6.125" h x 11.5" w)
- All tabs must be 1.5" OR optionally 2" and non-perforated
- 2 tabs must be placed on the leading edge (or top if landscape booklet)
- 1 Tab must be placed on trailing edge
As a result, most lettershops will need 2-3 passes through equipment where previously the tabbing could typically be done in one pass.
There are NO changes to single sheet folded self mailers, until May of 2010. The USPS is testing tab placements across the summer and will announce these changes in September.
