Read MoreAnthony Aiello of the Morris Arboretum memorializes two pine trees, recently removed from near Gates Hall. One, a white pine, was given to the Arboretum in 1936 by Maurice Saul, an attorney and former trustee who helped his client, Lydia Morris, create lasting ties between the Arboretum and the University. “All of the plants at the Arboretum have stories to tell,” writes Aiello. “In the case of these two pines, they provide links to characters and places in our history.”
